Spread The Vote/Project ID is now present and active in Louisiana! We are a 501c3 non-profit which guarantees that anyone who resides in Louisiana is able to obtain a valid Louisiana ID. There are over 21 million Americans who lack the ID they need to live full lives and many of them are here in Louisiana. At Spread The Vote + Project ID, we help members of our communities obtain the IDs they need for jobs, housing, health care, and, most importantly, identity. We also make sure each person we help obtain an ID is able to register to vote and is provided with easy to understand, comprehensive, and engaging voter guides prior to elections and transportation to the polls.

We are only able to do this amazing work by utilizing volunteer advocates. Our volunteers are the backbone of the organization! They attend “tablings” with our partner organizations located within the chapter’s area. A few of the populations we focus on are: the homeless, veterans, youth, low-income, domestic violence survivors, students, and returning citizens (formerly incarcerated persons). At these tablings we do intake for anyone who needs help getting an ID. We pay for all costs associated with obtaining an ID including paying for supporting documents (birth certificate, social security card, etc) and providing transportation to and from the DMV. Our volunteer advocates are managed by a volunteer chapter leader with support from the state director.
